It is amazing how one simple question can impact a generation. Lisa Z. Blady was running hard in her job in the corporate world when Holy Spirit stopped her in her tracks. Lisa’s son Steven and his wife, Britney, were 20 weeks pregnant when Holy Spirit asked her, “Lisa, why aren’t you praying for this baby?”
During this season of expectancy Lisa pressed in and began to pray in detail for her beautiful unborn granddaughter. In every hour our loving Father was handcrafting each organ inside her tiny body. This had never entered her mind before, but in that simple question everything changed.
What was He creating this week in the secret place? Was it the eyes? Or perhaps it was the heart?
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalm 139:13
Though she did not know how to begin or what to pray over this new life, she did know the Lord was speaking to her. Three years later Lisa published, Sons & Daughters Emerging: A Prayer Strategy for Millennial Parents. Through these devotionals, Lisa hopes to bring light to parents as they journey through the creation of their child and the experience of becoming parents.
Even though I am not a parent I was captivated by the process Jesus uses to design us each so uniquely. I read Sons & Daughters Emerging cover to cover in almost one sitting. It brings me to true tears thinking about the beauty of life. It is so scared and should be protected in every form. Lisa is a close and dear friend of mine. I have sat beside her in many a small groups and watched her do what she does best; teach, encourage, affirm, prophesy, and believe in full faith for the plans of the Father. LIFE is always in his equation!
