College student Alexie Rendon is a junior at Texas Tech University. She studies journalism, makes straight A’s, and is the Vice President of Foundation for her sorority Delta Gamma sorority. She loves to hang out with her friends, watch movies with her family, and working out with Peloton. She also has a faithful furry friend who sticks to her side, Miss Fancy Mae, her Seeing Eye guide dog.
Alexie survived a very scary season of her life. At just six weeks old she was diagnosed with Bilateral-Retinoblastoma, a rare form of pediatric cancer. For four years Lexi and her family visited doctors in Dallas and Philadelphia for chemotherapy, surgery and other treatments. During this time, Alexie began working with vision therapists and early child intervention specialists.
I first learned about Alexie’s story of overcoming eye cancer in her conversation with one of my dear friends, Katie Bulmer, on her podcast “Truth For Your Twenties“. Immediately, I was drawn to Alexie’s brimming confidence and her love for inspiring stories. Clearly, she has one too and I so wanted to bring her on Still With You to share more.
Though Alexie is walking through a journey of being visually impaired her outlook on life is beyond positive. I hope you enjoy this chat with my brave and beautiful friend, Alexie Rendon!
Invite Alexie to speak at your school, small group, or event. She would love to share her inspiring story and encourage you to live your most confident life! For all inquires contact her using this link, here.
